Introduction to the Website
This website is based entirely off of Doug Lemov's book, Teach Like a Champion: 49 Techniques That Put Students on the Way to College (*Note: see references page for full citation of Lemov's book). There are four strategies from Lemov's book featured on this website: one strategy per page. As you navigate from page to page, you will find that each page contains three components. The first component is an explanation of the listed strategy. The second component is an explanation of why the strategy should work in a classroom, with support through research [from a psychology standpoint]. The third component is a dialogue example of the strategy being used in a classroom.
I, the creator of this website, am an English major at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC, and I am pursing a career in Secondary Education. With my subject concentration in mind, I have made the examples on this website specific to English Education. However, anyone of these four strategies may be applied to other subjects. The four strategies I have chosen to feature on this website seem, to me, to be most beneficial in a class discussion setting. I did this purposefully because I believe that most aspects of English, literature, and writing are best learned through group discussions, or social interaction.
